Circus Skills

We love our Circus Skills sessions with Peter Duncan. Learning circus skills provides a wide range of benefits to the participant – increased attention span and focus, personal and social growth, mental and emotional health – all the while within a non-competitive and fun atmosphere.

Story Telling with Sharon

We have been working with Sharon to create a story about the ‘Goodlands’ and ‘Badlands’. We have started by looking at the structure of a story and then in groups we created our own settings for our stories. We also acted out what it would be like to live in our ‘Goodlands’.

Cinema Trip

Years 2, 3 and 4 enjoyed a cinema trip to Newtown yesterday to watch ‘The Cat in the Hat’ by Dr Seuss. For their Mantle of the Expert work this Term they have been commissioned by Dr Seuss to write a play based on one of his stories. The trip was part funded by the Friends of School and part funded by the money that their classes raised for the Christmas Fayre.

Building LEGO Rollercoasters and Programming

We had a super Science and Technology day using LEGO to build our rollercoasters.  First of all, we used the LEGO to build our track and then we tested our rollercoaster from the launcher to see if it would stay on the track.

We then used LEGO We do to program a sensor which had a windmill attached to it.  We put our sensor next to the track and every time the rollercoaster went past the sensor, the windmill would spin.

Measuring Brynny

We measured Brynny in November to to see if the space would be suitable for us to build our rollercoaster on. We used trundle wheels to measure the area and perimeter.

Amser Panto!

We had a fabulous time watching Sleeping Beauty last week in the Courtyard in Hereford. Thank you to our Friends of School for our snack packs.

Ffair Nadolig

Well done for all of the children for working so hard on their table centrepieces and their Christmas Eve plates. Thank you to the following members of staff/volunteers that made these production lines possible…. Sally Humphries, Kath George, Sarah Lloyd, Jade Durban, Carole Stokes, Nick Tranter, Helen Lloyd, Sue Hayward and Simon License. Finally, thank you to our fantastic parents and members of community that have purchased our goods and supported us.

Making our rollercoasters

This week we have been busy making our rollercoasters. Its was really tricky to build and make the curves and the loops, but we persevered and Knighton Town Council were really pleased with our prototypes.
